German language courses
The University of Wuppertal offers a limited number of applicants whose mother tongue is not German, and who can provide evidence of right of admission to a university degree program, the opportunity to attend full-time preparatory German language courses. A fee of 500 Euro per semester is charged.
German courses are offered at the following levels:
- A1 - C1
Placement at a specific level is on the basis of a test held at the beginning of the course. The courses are 38 weeks long with at least 18 hours teaching per week. Vacations follow the school vacation schedule of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
As the number of applicants for German courses regularly exceeds the number of available places, the university selects participants. Well qualified young applicants, and those who have passed a TestAS examination (see www.testas.de), enjoy priority in this procedure.
Applications should be submitted to uni-assist, indicating the selected degree program, on the application form for admission to a degree program, within the usual deadlines.
